Community Alert – Suspicious Callers Posing as Water Company

We are issuing a “warn and inform” message following a recent report in the local area.

Two males attended a residential address claiming to be from a water company, stating they needed to take a water sample. The resident acted appropriately and did not allow them entry.

At this stage, we cannot confirm that these individuals are legitimate, and we would like to make the community aware.

We are asking local residents:

Have you experienced a similar visit today or recently?

Have two males knocked at your door claiming to be from a utility company?

If so, please report this information so we can better understand the activity in the area.

🔒 Crime Prevention Advice:

Always ask for identification from anyone claiming to represent a company or organisation.

Do not allow access to your home unless you are completely satisfied they are genuine.

Legitimate companies will be happy for you to verify their identity, including contacting their office directly.

If you feel unsure or pressured, do not engage—close the door and contact police via 101 (or 999 in an emergency).

🚫 Rogue Trader Warning: Rogue traders may attempt to gain entry by posing as officials or utility workers. Be cautious of:

Unexpected or unsolicited visits

Requests to enter your home

Claims of urgent checks or testing
